An overview will be given about author's participation in Japan International Fusion School 2024 (JIFS). This annual event, that is organized jointly by EuroFusion and Institute of Quantum Sciences and Technologies (QST), was held in Japan, Naka site of fusion research. It gathers together 10 selected European and 10 Japanese Ph.D. students and postdocs working in nuclear fusion field and related topics, for intensive 3 weeks long educational training. This school covered all main aspects of plasma physics, liquid metal and plasma MHD, tokamak operation and diagnostics, with both praticical hands-on laboratory training, as well as lectures. The school symbolically represents the ongoing transfer of knowledge from JET to JT-60SA, which is the largest tokamak in operation, designed and built jointly by Japan and Europe.

In this work, a permanent magnet EM flow meter for liquid Li at an operating temperature of 230 [C] is studied. Numerical calibration has been carried out using the results of 3D magnetic field calculations, applying them in the solid-body MHD flow approximation to the pipe, given an empirical, axisymmetric velocity profile. As a result, the potential difference and EM force are calculated depending on the flow rate. Numerical results are compared with experiment using InGaSn alloy and good agreement is obtained.
