 tion is dedicated to the significant contribution of scholars from the Bal
 tic region to the development of Oriental Studies as an academic disciplin
 e\, linking the theoretical paradigms of the 18th–20th centuries with co
 ntemporary perspectives. We are interested in how understandings of Asian 
 spiritual traditions were formed\, how religious and cultural phenomena we
 re interpreted\, and how the boundaries between the construction of mechan
 ical analogies and the emergence of genuine understanding were articulated
