  this session propose interdisciplinary presentations that analyse the inf
 luence of public speech\, theological concepts\, and religious language in
  political discourse from the Middle Ages to the present day. How have pub
 lic speech\, performativity\, and theological ideas served the legitimatio
 n of power\, the formation of political communities\, and the consolidatio
 n of collective identities? How do invocations of God\, authority\, and mo
 ral justification change across different historical and political context
 s? How does religious thought shape political argumentation\, and how does
  politics\, in turn\, transform theological language?We invite you to atte
 nd on 15 April:In person in the House of Science\, Room 401 (Jelgavas iela
  3\, Riga) the Faculty of Humanities UL session open to researchers in his
 tory\, theology\, and religious studies. It includes the historians’ ses
 sion “You Shall Guard Them as the Apple of Your Eye! Public Speech in th
 e Performative Culture of Medieval Europe” and the theology and religiou
 s studies session “Theology at the Crossroads of Political Discourse”.
