Sekcijas mērķis ir iztirzāt pēdējo gadu globālo norišu (piemēram, Covid-19 pandēmijas, Krievijas Federācijas pilna mēroga iebrukuma Ukrainā, cilvēktiesību nozīmes izpratnes) ietekmi uz publiskās telpas un kultūras mantojuma komunikāciju. Tajā plānots aplūkot publiskajā telpā notikušo izmaiņu (piemēram, pieminekļu demontāžas un uzstādīšanas, ielu nosaukumu maiņu, parku izveides) un atmiņas institūciju ekspozīciju un citu aktivitāšu komunikatīvos vēstījumus. Sekcijas uzmanības centrā būs arī pretrunīgā kultūras mantojuma reprezentācija kultūrā (piemēram, literatūrā, mākslā, filmās) un medijos, tostarp arī sociālajos medijos. Iecerēts arī debatēt par sabiedrības attiecībām ar globālo un nacionālo kultūras mantojumu.

The aim of the section is to examine the impact of recent global developments - such as the COVID-19 pandemic, the full-scale invasion of Ukraine by the Russian Federation, and evolving understandings of the importance of human rights - on the communication of public space and cultural heritage. The section will address communicative messages conveyed through changes in public space (for example, the dismantling and installation of monuments, the renaming of streets, and the creation of parks), as well as through exhibitions and other activities of memory institutions. The section will also focus on the representation of contested cultural heritage in culture (for example, in literature, art, and film) and in the media, including social media. In addition, it is intended to foster discussion on society’s relationship with global and national cultural heritage.
