Sekijas pētnieki starpdisciplinārā perspektīvā analizē publiskās runas, teoloģisko jēdzienu un reliģisko valodu ietekmi politiskajos diskursos no viduslaikiem līdz mūsdienām. Kā publiskā runa, performativitāte un teoloģiskās idejas kalpojušas varas leģitimācijai, politisko kopienu veidošanai un kolektīvo identitāšu nostiprināšanai? Kā mainās Dieva, autoritātes un morālā pamatojuma piesaukšana dažādos vēsturiskos un politiskos kontekstos? Kā reliģiskā domāšana ietekmē politisko argumentāciju, un kā politika pārveido teoloģisko valodu?

God à la carte: From the Middle Ages to Contemporary Politics
The researchers in this session propose interdisciplinary presentations that analyse the influence of public speech, theological concepts, and religious language in political discourse from the Middle Ages to the present day. How have public speech, performativity, and theological ideas served the legitimation of power, the formation of political communities, and the consolidation of collective identities? How do invocations of God, authority, and moral justification change across different historical and political contexts? How does religious thought shape political argumentation, and how does politics, in turn, transform theological language?

In person in the House of Science, Room 401 (Jelgavas iela 3, Riga) the Faculty of Humanities UL session open to researchers in history, theology, and religious studies. It includes the historians’ session “You Shall Guard Them as the Apple of Your Eye! Public Speech in the Performative Culture of Medieval Europe” and the theology and religious studies session “Theology at the Crossroads of Political Discourse”.
