Sekcija “Mediji un sabiedrība: globālu un lokālo izaicinājumu ietvarā” pievērsīsies mediju lomai mūsdienu sabiedrības procesos, analizējot gan starptautiskas, gan vietēja mēroga norises. Tajā tiks aplūkoti tādi jautājumi kā dezinformācija, mediju uzticamība, digitālo platformu ietekme un žurnālistikas transformācija mainīgā politiskā un sociālā vidē. Īpaša uzmanība tiks veltīta mediju un sabiedrības savstarpējai mijiedarbībai, identitātes veidošanai un demokrātisko procesu stiprināšanai vai vājināšanai. Sekcija aicina piedalīties pētniekus un praktiķus ar starpdisciplināru skatījumu un empīriskiem vai teorētiskiem pētījumiem par aktuālajiem izaicinājumiem mediju laukā.

The section “Media and Society: Within the Framework of Global and Local Challenges” will focus on the role of media in contemporary societal processes, analyzing developments at both international and local levels. It will address issues such as disinformation, media trustworthiness, the influence of digital platforms, and the transformation of journalism in a changing political and social environment. Particular attention will be paid to the interaction between media and society, identity formation, and the strengthening or weakening of democratic processes. The section invites researchers and practitioners with interdisciplinary perspectives and empirical or theoretical studies on current challenges in the media field.
