The celebration of International Yoga Day was established by a United Nations General Assembly resolution in December 2014, following a proposal by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The 21st of June was adopted as the official day of observance. Rooted in India's ancient tradition, yoga today serves as a bridge connecting people across diverse cultures, societies, and nations in their pursuit of a balanced and healthy way of life.
