The aim of the conference is to aid in the protection of the development of children against the harm caused by pandemics. During the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, several countries have not evaluated the effect of the decisions made on children, therefore ignoring a major principle of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child - the prioritisation of the interests of the child over those of other groups in society.
In Latvia neither the parliament, nor executive bodies have created a multidisciplinary academic team of researchers in order to draft a strategy to protect children from pandemics and the ensuing consequences in the fields of education, healthcare and those related to the prolonged returning of loans.
Society must become aware of the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic on the quality of the education, healthcare and economics pertatining to the child, in order to understand how to proceed correctly in the future.
Further harm caused by the COVID-19 pandemic to children must be stopped.
For this to be possible, society must have access to comprehensive and trustworthy information. In such extraordinary circumstances only experts recognized in the academic and research field can provide trustworthy recommendations, justifying them only with evidence-based studies.
Since the second half of 2019 a large amount of experience has been ammassed regarding the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on children. During the conference researchers and lecturers from the University of Latvia, „Latvian Protect the Children”, the Latvian Pediatric Association as well as the colleagues from other countries will share their experience and the latest discoveries on this topic.
Referring to the epidemiological situation, the conference will be held remotely.

Starptautiska zinātniska konference „Covid -19 ietekme uz bērniem, tiesības un atbildība.”
2022. gada 26. Janvārī pl.14:00, Alfa auditorijā, Jelgavas ielā 3 Rīgā, Latvijā.
Konferences virsmērķis ir turpmāk pasargāt bērnus no kaitējuma normālai attīstībai, ko nodara pandēmijas.Vairākās valstīs cīņā ar pandēmiju valdība nav izvērtējusi lēmumu ietekmi uz bērniem, tādējādi ignorējot ANO Bērnu tiesību konvencijas normu par bērnu interešu absolūtu prioritāti iepretim jebkuras citas sabiedrības grupas interesēm.
Arī Latvijā ne parlaments , ne izpildvara nav izveidojuši daudznozaru akadēmisku zinātnieku komandu, lai izstrādātu stratēģiju bērnu pasargāšanai no pandēmiju ietekmes sekām izglītībā, veselības aprūpē un ilgstošā valsts parādu atmaksāšanā.
Sabiedrībai ir jāapzinās sekas, ko covid nodara bērnu izglītības, veselības, ekonomiskā stāvokļa kvalitātei, lai saprastu , kā pareizāk rīkoties turpmāk.
Turpmāks covid kaitējums bērniem ir jāaptur.
Lai to spētu, sabiedrības rīcībā jābūt pilnīgai un uzticamai informācijai. Vienīgi akadēmiskajā un pētnieku vidē atzīti speciālisti var sniegt uzticamus ieteikumus, ko pamato tikai un vienīgi ar zinātniskos pētījumos balstītiem pierādījumiem.
Par covid ietekmi uz bērniem kopš 2019. gadanogales uzkrājusies ievērojama pieredze un tajā un jaunākajos atklājumos dalīsies Latvijas Universitātes, biedrības „Glābiet bērnus - sabiedriskais tiesībsargs” un Latvijas pediatru asociācijas pētnieki un mācībspēki kā arī ārvalstu kolēģi.
Ņemot vērā epidemioloģisko situāciju valstī, konference notiks attālināti.
